Does anyone know anything about a village called Kelvonk in the province of Kharpert? I found one called Holvenk on a map, but I don't know if it's the same one.

Here is what I responded on another list:

The village in Armenian was known as Keghvank. I see on U.S. military maps it shown as Kogenk. In Turkish sources, you would find it referenced as Kovenk. The village is now known as Goontashu and is southeast of Elazig.

NAME LATITUDE LONGITUDE
Kovenk: see Guntasi "38°35'00""N" "39°22'00""E"
Guntasi "38°35'00""N" "39°22'00""E"

Per the 1912/3 Armenian Patriarchate census there were 108 Armenians in 26 households. The village was mixed ~50/50 Armenians/Turks. It had the monastery of S. Nshan.
