Hi Folks,
My great grandfather, Der Haroutyoun YEGHIVARTIAN, was in 1892, ordained at the 'Kourou Cheshme' church by Bishop K. Hovhannesian.
Kourou Cheshme, may be Kourou Cesme, I'm presuming in Izmir (Smyrna). Could it be in the Basmane district?
Der Haroutyoun YEGHIVARTIANm was born, in Smyrna, on the 3rd August 1850, as Garabed Takvor YEGHIVARTIAN and married Nouneh MAROUTIAN in 1876.
Please can anyone me help to locate exactly this church, which may no longer be around. I know that St. Stepanos Church was destroyed in a fire in 1922, might Kourou Cesme be a place, rather than a church name?
Kind regards
Mike
Help please with a location of a church in Smyrna in 1892.

Look at this site: http://www.armenianarchitecture.am/v2/i ... Language=2 it lists all the historic and current Armenian curches and monuments. Hope it will lead you to something.
I couldn't find any but l am happy to get a good testimony that the Smyrna Church was a faithful church that had to deal with false Christians and that the Smyrna Church would have suffered persecution and a ten day tribulation. As this is a ten day (interpreted to be a ten year period) tribulation, this is not the great tribulation as it lasts 3 1/2 years. Also noticed that there is no condemnation against the Smyrnaeans (most likely for their faithfulness and lack of compromise).
Post again on this page to click hare>> http://westarmgen.weebly.com/smyrna ,it is just for people from Smyrna,
if your lucky you might get someone who knows something several years later!
