Hi all,

I am attempting to find any information about the town/village of Hoegetzi - my guess is that it was in the province of Harput (as that is where the other side of my family hails from and my g-grandparents were married there). I was given a paper written by a cousin after interviewing her father (the son of my g-grandmother's sister) in the 1970s. It told that their family (Aslanians) came from Hoegetzi, Turkey and that in 1915 the entire village was marched out of town.

I've tried looking the town up with no luck, although I know that it possibly could be found on some pre-1915 maps of the region. Anyone else know anything about the town or have family from there?? I'm just trying to figure out if this is truly a town or if as a small boy (I think he was only about 8 years old in 1915), that he's mistaken it for something else.

The other side of my family comes from Kesserig, so my guess is that these two towns were likely nearby outside of the city of Harput?

Thanks,
Lindsay

When you say Harput or Kharpoort this is the Turkish alteration of the name which was originally pronounced Kharpert in Armenian as far as everyone thinks.
I couldn't find the town but maybe if you post your question up in this kharpert blog I found then someone might answer you several years later. http://westarmgen.weebly.com/kharpoort
