My most distant male ancestor was my grandfather, Sarkis Dishtchekenian; b 1830, d 1884 in Diarbekir. His wife and daughter were lost in the Genocide of 1915; but his son, my father, had escaped from Harput in 1896. Sarkis had a brother, also in Diarbekir; it's possible he had sons who may have survived the Genocide. I know there are others with the name, or variations of, Dishtchekenian, but have not been able to determine if there is any relationship. The name is Turkish, and it means or relates to one being a dentist; so its quite likely there were several different families with the same name. Anyway, I am interested in communicating with any others with that name.
