Hi! I want to learn about Macaryan. My family's surmame was Macaryan before 1915 but my grand father changed his surname. This is a tragic story and I wiil tell you about this event maybe later. Has anyone got a surname which is macaryan or know what Macaryan means. I stiil live in Turkey.

The yan ending suggests Eastern Armenian, the Western Armenian usually transliterating as Magar.

According to Hannessian, Magar is from Macarios, Greek for happy, lucky.
