Re: Aintab

I am continuing to search for information on my Grandfather's parents. From his documents, I believe that his father was Garabed Balabanian and his mother was Mary Yesaian (Asaoglu when he wrote it in Turkish). I have not been able to find any information on these people or their families. My grandf...

Re: janjikian, djanjikian or other spelling

At the time our ancestors were still living, they were forced to speak and use the Turkish language for everything outside their homes, i.e. conducting business. Therefore, many of them used more than one surname...an Armenian name and a Turkish name. (This can make our genealogy much more difficult...

Re: Aintab

I'm not really a good person to ask. My research has been a bit haphazard. I'd try posting your question in another topic thread or try asking at Ancestry.com and or Family Search.org. You'll get much better help. In fact, I think both of these sites have instructional areas to teach beginners about...

Re: Aintab

Greetings, Thank you for your reply regarding Aintab. I am interested in everything I can learn. I have learned just a few things about our extended family's pre-1915 life in Aintab from a third cousin who found my queries on another genealogy forum. I have read the (English) version "A Briefer...

Re: 1906/7 Armenian census

God bless you for posting these!!! Unfortunately, these are not my regions of ancestry (at least to my knowledge), but these are INVALUABLE for anyone whose family is documented there. God willing we will get more such documents made available!!!!!!!!!

Re: Kalashians from Kharpet, Guleserian from Aintab, Okoomian

Hi. I just happened to read your post. I'm in much the same boat, only with much less information. My ancestry is also from Aintab. How has your research progressed since you posted this? Are you still in need of a translator? If so, try posting on Genealogy.com on the Armenian forum page. Put "...

Armen Aroyan

Does anyone know how to contact Armen Aroyan (engineer/tour guide from CA). Apparently the email address I had for him is no longer valid. I've been searching on the internet, but have only found old information thusfar, including the same email address I have. I'm hoping he's not ill or something.....

KOUYOUMJIAN, BALABANIAN, ASAIAN(YESAIAN/ASAOGLU)-Aintab, Tur

I am looking for connections/information on any of the above listed families, particularly if there are roots in Aintab (Gaziantep), Turkey. Nazar Kouyoumjian, my maternal great grandfather was a goldsmith/jeweler in Aintab. He may have been a Nazarian and used Kouyoumjian (the Turkish) as his trade...

Re: Armenian Genealogy

Hi, Debbi. We're all in the same boat. I post on every genealogy site I can find. I've had the best luck, thusfar, using the Armenia forum on genealogy.com. You can post queries and get replies for free. Sometimes it takes awhile. My most exciting response came after 3+ years, but a third cousin fou...

Re: KOUYOUMJIAN, SHAHINIAN, BADULIAN, OHANESSIAN, JAMGOTCHIAN

I am trying to locate any KOUYOUMJIANS from Aintab, Turkey or with any connection to my great grandfather. My great grandfather was NAZAR KOUYOUMJIAN. He was a goldsmith/jeweler in Aintab, Turkey. He married HOURIG HOPARTINIAN/HAROUTUNIAN. Nazar, Hourig and 4 of their 6 children were killed in the 1...
