Re: Kalashians from Kharpet, Guleserian from Aintab, Okoomia

Hi ,I saw your Forum listing , And Was thinking if your Guleserian was Gulessarian? If it is Gulessarian , then you do have living relatives in England and Turkey , Last year on the B.B.C. program "Who do you think you are " David Dickenson , the British Antiques dealer . Is in fact a Gul...

Re: Kalashians from Kharpet, Guleserian from Aintab, Okoomia

Hi. I just happened to read your post. I'm in much the same boat, only with much less information. My ancestry is also from Aintab. How has your research progressed since you posted this? Are you still in need of a translator? If so, try posting on Genealogy.com on the Armenian forum page. Put &quo...

Re: Kalashians from Kharpet, Guleserian from Aintab, Okoomia

Wow! Hello everybody - I have not been on this forum since 2006. Suddenly, on my email I received a note from dear "Antep" - or Erol. I also see that in 2007 and 2009 I received a response from other people. Sadly, in 2008 I lost a year's worth of research when my computer crashed (and tha...

Re: Kalashian and Guleserian

I was always told that Kalash meant handsome. Now there is some argument from my daughter about that. Also, that Guleserian meant rose. Anyone else know? The Kalashians were from Kharpet and the Guleserians were from Aintab. Thanks so much everyone. Both of SURNAME in Turkish Language. KELES/KELEŞ/...

OK, well, thanks anyway. It does seem like a very uncommon Armenian name. I'd love to figure out the roots of it and what it means.

Do any of you know of any Okoomian's - they supposedly came from there.

Kalashians from Kharpet, Guleserian from Aintab, Okoomian

Hello. I am trying to put together my family tree and catelogue all the pictures and various artifacts left to me by my parents and grandparents. I have a family tree started through Ancestry.com, but I'm not very happy with their format. It isn't user friendly and it is very limited. I thought I'd ...

Armenians in Syracuse

Debbi - I don't know, but there may be some Kalashians there. Could you look that up, please? I know most of them reside in Massachusetts, but I think a couple of them went to New York. For sure, one nephew named Vartan Yazigian was there, son of Marnos Yazigian. If you have information on them, it ...

Re: Ships they came on
