My grandfather name was Sarkis Kaloyan,and came from the province of Kharpert. He arrived in Mexico with his wife Haiganoush, in 1924.
My grandfather was born in 1896.

Both my grandparents where from Kharpert. My grandfather family name is Kaloyan or Kaloian, well at least this is the transliteration.
I wondering how common is this family name, and what is the meaning.
